Welcome to the wonderful world of “Mommy Is The Mayor!”, a picture book for children. Told through the earnest voice of a child, it offers a heartfelt look at civic leadership and the power of small voices to spark big change.
When the current Mayor rejects plans for a new park, one mother and her child refuse to give up on their dream. Inspired by her little one’s imaginative sketches, Mommy sets her sights on becoming the next Mayor. Along the campaign trail, they discover that leadership isn’t about shiny signs or loud speeches, but about listening, caring, and working together to build a connected community.
My Story
The inspiration to write this book series came after an unexpected answer from a young student when I was a special guest at an elementary school. As I was arriving, the parent introducing me asked if they knew anything about the Mayor, a little boy piped up right stating, “He’s a man!” with undeniable conviction.

A moment after those words came out of his mouth, my high heel clicked on the floor just in front of him, and he was able to clearly see that the Mayor was not a man.
​She was someone who looked a lot like a Mommy!
